Descripción: The project objective is to mentor undergraduate students in the pursue of a graduate education and provide summer research experiences that will enhance transition to a graduate program in chemistry and to create a clear and direct pathway to admission of UPR-Cayey students to the chemistry graduate program at University at Buffalo. The ultimate expected outcome will be the completion of graduate degrees by students from the Hispanic population, which in turn will increase diversity and representation of the STEM workforce in the nation. It is also expected that institutions notice that by make changes in traditional admission rules and targeting specific populations can bring students to graduate programs. The work will highlight that strategic partnership can play a vital role in increasing diversity.
