Reseña/Biosketch:

My research interests range from Golden Age to Puerto Rican literatures, with a series of adulterous romances in betwe

en. I am currently working on a critical documentation of Puerto Rican film and literature over the last 15 years. I am interested in continuing the ideological analysis applied to Puerto Rican culture that José Luis González launched 40 years ago with the publication of his essay El país de cuatro pisos. I propose we should update the analysis of social class discourse directed by González against the Puerto Rican nationalist intelligentsia of early and mid-20th century; this update should consider the specific historical circumstances and ideological milieu in which contemporary artists work. For this, I have decided to pay attention to the most recent literary and film production of the island; in this way, I also intend to make the work of present-day authors and filmmakers critically visible.

For some time now, furthermore, I have explored the Darwinian methodology for reading and analyzing Baroque theater, an undertaking that I will continue in the near future.
