I am currently working on a critical documentation of Puerto Rican film and literature over the last 15 years. I am interested in continuing the ideological analysis applied to Puerto Rican culture that Jos\u00e9 Luis Gonz\u00e1lez launched 40 years ago with the publication of his essay <em>El pa\u00eds de cuatro pisos<\/em>. I propose we should update the analysis of social class discourse directed by Gonz\u00e1lez against the Puerto Rican nationalist intelligentsia of early and mid-20th century; this update should consider the specific historical circumstances and ideological milieu in which contemporary artists work.
